It’s the season

Love arrives exactly when love is supposed to, and love leaves exactly when love must
When love arrives say “Welcome, make yourself comfortable.”
If love leaves, ask her to leave the door open behind her
Turn off the music, listen to the quiet
Whisper, “Thank you for stopping by”

A little extra

Birthdays are validation of ones existence. The greetings that comes with it are confirmation of how good of a person you are. A little nostalgia, old photos suddenly popping out, tagged recent images, endless thank you's and overflowing heart .gifs -- it's a social validation of who you are and how are you so far and I guess its safe to say we all enjoy that attention.

You shouldn't be here anymore

You don't deserve to be here. You don't deserve a space in my head everytime I will walk past the building we shared a place in. You shouldn't be lurking inside my head everytime I see a Marvel related article just because I know it will capture your interest.

You shouldn't be here in the first place.

Gpoy

What a sad moment to see that the last time I tried to archive a memory was a year ender post. Where have I been? Where was the fire I was talking about? Where did I go? Where am I? Who knows.

When it kicks in

Whenever confusion kicks me in, whenever I feel down and sad, I always find myself listening to All I Want by Kodaline. It makes the feelings more valid, I get more sad, questions pour out in me. Sounds very martyr but I like the feeling of drowning for 5 mins then I get to gain myself back to reality and figure it all out.

Not a priority

Look what we have here. Photo above was a note I secretly left on the car winshield of my crush back in college. Yes, naging isang secret admirer po ako at no, hindi ako stalker or creepy. Nadaan lang sa udyok.

Now I wonder if he kept it. This was actually the second letter already, the first one I knew he saw because his sister posted it on Facebook and tagged him. I still remember the feeling of kilig, kahihiyan, kaba, takot, at excitement rolled into one me. Pero hindi na nya nalaman na ako yung nagsulat na yon. Maraming nagtangka at naiinggit lol he was the heartthrob type - he plays drums, he looks so neat, he drives (it was a big thing back then), he gets good grades, plus the fact na madami talaga syang admirer so parang minsan gusto mo makigulo talaga lelz

Back then I wonder what if I message him and confess that I am that girl. Wala lang. Randomly I will just send him a facebook chat and let it out, no expectations. Feeling ko naman okay lang since that was 4 years ago already. Hmmm, maybe I should do it.

The heart (always) remembers

I was trying to clean out my drafts and my god how I miss writing. I miss the feeling of aching myself to go home and try to jot down all my feelings after a full day. I miss the thought of words randomly patching in my mind even in strange situations. I yearn for the days I have all the time I could just to type my feelings out, blurb it and edit it out.

Time consumed me so much. I tried to fight it, tried to get a hold of it but I can't and I know I won't be able to do that because it should be the one to rule and not me so I chose to ride along with it. And I flowed with it too much I quite forgot some things that is important for me too.

Nothing's too late if you want it. Let me rephrase this soon. The fire is starting once again, I don't want to get it burn, I must cook it while it's here.

And then the stars aligned, must be a good sign

It was a very spontaneous night last 1110. I was planning to sleep early or maybe watch a movie until I doze off - I haven't had a long nap in a while and it was the peak of my period my cramps are too high. I got off the bus, about to get on another transportation ride when my friend texted me to come at the museum and watch the on-going rehearsal. It seems fun and I know I will definitely have a good night so I went.

The Good Breakup

Taken using the analog camera app, 'Gudak'

5 months ago, my 3 year relationship with my first boyfriend ended. At this very moment I can say that it was a very humbling experience for me. There was no such thing as the good breakup but if there is, I will consider this as one. Good because of all the things happened after it ended; things that I would have never thought I would explore and would be knowing and even if he had hurt me, and even if in some ways I created a scar in him, I wouldn't want it done in any other way because I knew for sure that even if I felt the need, I won't be doing it anyway - I'm the type who'll make it work.

Rules, rules beyond rules

March 22, 6:15p / BGC going to Makati

I don't get some things...
I don't get why some people tend to over react on small stuffs.
I don't get why they tend to set such high standards on people but keep telling them its okay to do this and that but is acting the otherwise.
I don't get why they think those whom they don't trust cannot be trusted anymore.
I don't get why they keep on pushing people away just because....
I don't get it why they keep on acting as if everything is okay and then when a situation is heightened, they over react.

A letter I wrote to myself last year

View from the 17th floor; Rainy day, around 5pm

Dear 5 year older self,

By the time you read this you'll probably be 26. And I know before you reach that age, you might be able to recite all of the corners of each and every word of this open letter because you will read this over and over again to either check the proper grammar or just because you are conscious of your own writing. That's okay. I expect that.

Let me just rephrase this for you instead...

I got kicked by being silent

Photo taken last year at Globe's Netflix/Stranger Things' Booth, BHS

I always treat silence as good. I don't know who told me (or if I am really told) that silence is a good way to stop yourself from spending too much energy on the negatives. Hence, if you stay silent you won't be saying anything bad towards a situation. I grew up knowing this. And I know its good. For the better. For me.

Don't let you drown yourself

I don't know how to swim.

Wait, I know how - but not until college.

-----

Every time the family books a private pool, you will always see me at the edge of the pool tight gripped holding the end tiles. And whenever a family member tries to push me, I would almost cry.

I never learned how to swim until college for swimming class - 2nd year. I was so afraid, but I have no choice but to do and bubbles and dive and do freestyle and jump on the middle part of the Olympic side pool because we are required to do so, or else I would fail.

When I started learning how to float and swim unprofessionally, I would now always let my family members see that I now know how I would swim from end to end or do different kinds of float and act like a pro. But what they didn't know is that I am still afraid of the deep waters and as much as possible, I still keep a hold on the edge side or cling into my boyfriend who is a good swimmer so I have excuse to roam around in the middle.

First, bubbles.

Maybe the real reason why I didn't learn how to swim was because I am never exposed outside. I am a real home buddy - I can just stay at home and do things in bed. I can last months just laying in bed, watching all sorts of random stuff on youtube, reading books, and/or browsing the television. And my family is a home buddy, too. Or maybe just my mother since she's the one who wouldn't go to the mall just for nothing. The closest I can get into a summer class when I was a tween was a ballet, jazz, and singing class. That's it.

It's just that during college I knew about exploring the world outside home - thanks to my mother who pushed me to live a dorm life. And from that certain experience outside that I keep on having realizations about how shall I keep intact of my life, specifically my goals. Because the thing is, we cannot get out of the system if we keep on giving and pointing out reasons.

It's not bad to go with the flow, just make you sure you know how to swim back.

To be honest, I cannot remember how I did learn how to swim -- I never learned the freestyle without drinking pool water, never did the breast stroke or the other strokes there is aside from floating (is this even a stroke?). All I know is that I have to reach the end side so I wouldn't go back and do it again.

*Here is the point where I spill in the whole point of the situation*

Just the same as I try to keep my goals intact in my planner. I am really just going with what's going on in the present. It sucks that sometimes I forget those that was once mattered - that whenever I try to write a certain topic in my head, I say, "I'll write about it on the weekend...". And whenever Saturday comes, I just lie in bed, scan through my social media timeline, or either plan a random out with friends or watch a movie with the boyfriend if he ever comes over and that's just it. I forgot to open my drafts or most of the time, the topic just hangs in there and the momentum has gone.

You can tell me I am lazy. I would not contradict because I really am. I keep on reasoning to myself so many things for my long list of goals but I think I have a fairly utter point for the unnecessary. If you're working and commuting 5 days a week I think you would attest on me with that, too! Or... not unless you have a cool and very balance life. Anyway~~~

Try and swim the high seas. Use floaters if necessary.

Summing it all out as what I have been realizing the past couple of days: it's not bad to go with the flow but don't let it drown you.

The environment we live in is quite tricky, you either go out with the flock up above the sea, or swim the high seas like the others - not unless you think it is the path wave you were eyeing to go to. I know that we are all different and at the back end of this post is me trying to defend a certain personality that is out of the path of this entire post but I wouldn't go through with that anymore since that's just a part of the whole context.

I keep on thinking about it for the past days that what I can do to not think about it is to write it down.

The thing is, you are quite drowning and sometimes you just can't see it yet.

And most of the time even if we think we are just too overwhelmed with the surroundings, we ignore the fact that we can drown anytime. We try to act cool and professional but really, even those Olympic swimmers get drown and make mistakes. We are sometimes caught up in the present that we are setting aside our goals and the hope just keeps on hiding underneath. And when the feeling comes back, you'll regret and say that you wasted some of your time doing nothing.

I am too observant these past few days - which I think what made me felt the need on writing things down. I know things are just starting and as I am trying to catch up through the waves, I fight the drown and swim more even though I know that it's not the right thing to take on because as much as I try to get back, the waves kept on pushing me in the middle - I swam so hard, I drowned myself when at the beginning it is not the intention nor the reason. And as much as I try to think of ways, somehow, it had been a part of my reflex to swim some more. The question is: how do you fight routines?

Triple take: Don't.

As I try to re-assess what technique shall I do to find my right wave, here's my take:

Don't let the environment eat you up and make you one of them. Go and take a swim but don't forget that at the end of the day you have your own waves to catch. Don't let a lazy day make you forget what you have been trying to reach at this whole time.

I know I am lazy. But that's just about it. And as much as I try to avoid drowning, I am in the middle of the water struggling on kicking paddles. I know I shall not forget, and I know I won't either but I hope I could find the right struggle to deal everything.

As of now, here is what I can tell to myself: Even though you're drowning, and I know you are trying, and I see that everything is still the same - Never forget what you don't know and plan on knowing before you learn how to swim.

Do I make sense?

Chapters and a Prologue

Just as when I thought I am this girl whose not afraid to jump into free fall, turns out I am so afraid like everyone else.

I have always been the "just go with the flow" type even to those whom I give advices to. I always say to go and never be afraid to fall, to always take chances even if the road is a blind spot. But here I am, writing about the things I easily say to others yet having a hard time absorbing it all for myself.

The last gap of a major story of mine had been rough last year. I had been tested and I think I can proudly say that I had passed. I realized how kind I can be and how being kind could change things. I had been more patient, more persistent and most of all, I had been in my very utmost positive state. It's not easy you know. Narealize ko ang hirap din pala maging mabait. All along referring a person as kind is somewhat normal because everyone is kind but napagtanto ko hindi pala ganun ang kindness. It is something so deep that once you felt it, you can never go wrong.

I want to dug into a more deep details of my thoughts about my learnings I wanted to make a separate post with each chapter. And as much I want to stay true to my word, I will try my very best to oull out the hugot in me so I can write it down.

But anyway, as I close this prologue let me say:

As every chapter closes, thus open new stories ready to be embraced. You just have to keep some old characters, recurring ones, and some new ones who'll either help you get to the right and happy ending or will get you lost. It's not easy and I think for sure everyone of us gets lost track but I believe that wherever we are heading to, all we have a happy and good ending. Don't you think so too?

Literary dreaming!

I was just about to plan on how I would be blogging about my newly created blog for my literary portfolio thing when I happen to came across this draft of mine 2 years ago:

"
This is the HS me.

Back in High School, I use to do lots of performing acts; dancing different genres during parties, I even played Charo Santos when we do an "MMK" like show for linggo ng wika. I am not a sports person nor a logically type so imagine my shock when I won a medal for playing chess during a sportsfest.Tsamba, sa totoo lang.

T'was in high school when I did lots of story writing stuffs. I had this different set of intermediate pad paper that I tag along during school days so me and my bestfriend could edit parts. It was in high school when I got to finish a super fictional story about 4 teens and how they find each other - admitting true feelings. It was also in High School when I got to experience the real newspaper deal when I became the literary editor of the school paper. I was also in high school when I've got to join a real theater play with experienced actors.

You cannot blame me for applying Creative Writing in UP because that's what I believed in back then - that I want to be a novelist (or something) just because I love writing. Of course, taking up Theater Arts slipped in my mind also. But, no. Didn't go through it.

Maybe it was a sign. Y'know, not passing UPCAT, not taking Creative Writing. Maybe, God really wants me to pursue something different. Something I never knew back then (well, maybe until now).

I decided to took Marketing and Advertising for reasons that 1. It's a dual course. 2. I can work anywhere because this job is so flexible can you believe it. 3. Because the 'advertising' thing excites me. It was only in the middle of my first year days when I realized that this is not the course that I think it is. This focuses more on the 'marketing' side and the 'advertising' part, the part that I want, was just a sample of it. Ouch.

I've also got to face that usual college student dilemma - shifting courses, shifting schools. But, nope, didn't go through it. Magagalit ang nanay ko for sure!!! Plus, iniisip ko - I can take whatever course that I want after I graduate. Napamahal na rin naman kasi ako, guys. <3 p="p">
"

I don't know what to feel when I saw this post. I don't even remember posting this or that I have that sense of not doing things back then because of a lot of changes.

Maybe, really, God has plans. I may have not taken a proper writing course back then, I am not regreting everything right now. I like it how everything has ended from college. I mean, sure If I can undo things, I would undo a few ones but not to the point that I am undoing everything. I am here right now typing this words for a real purpose, and maybe I haven't took up writing back then because that isn't just the right time. Or maybe it really isn't for me. But either or, I am not giving up trying to write and continue all my life long goals and dreams that has to do with it. As my life mantra is, let me quote Coldplay: "If you never try, you'll never know". With the right amount of words, proper inspiration, right timing, I will be publishing my own book! Tiwala lang, self. Haha (Yup, that's the dream!) I know I am not a pro at patching words up, but I know I have the heart to do so. And kapag mahal mo, kaya mo lahat. Hugot?

To segway, I did a separate blog for my literary writings (as if people care huhu). Wala lang. Trying hard to be organized when I know I am super indecisive with things! If you have time, please please you can view all my hopeless romantic lines and rants here: http://lawrites.tumblr.com/ !

I am trying to update once in a while, depending on the flow of words in my head. Haha arte. But please if you can, please check it out. I accept comments, suggestions, criticisms, and anything as long as you tell me so we could figure out things! Feel free to tumblr ask me there or send me a mail thru leobhelcueto@gmail.com!

Haay, I just wish I won't be lazy. Haha I wonder what's in store for me in the future, me and my dreams. If I'd be given a chance to view the future, I will! I like spoilers! Haha but hey what the heck, must focus on present to have a bright future!

Teka, labo na nito.

Let me try this again (again).

I posted this on my tumblr account. And right now I just felt the need to quote this post of mine here:
"And so I was viewing some blogs to get inspiration from. Just to share, I am currently in the middle of fixing (or more likely trying out) a literary blog which has been a long time goal of mine to do but only had gotten a time to do recently. But that’s another story.
Anyway, as I was reading and looking out on those blogs, I suddenly realized that I am really not for that type of writing; the kind of whom to share every whereabouts and every destinations. Well yeah sure I “tried” doing that way back but it only occured to me just now why it hasn’t been working everytime i’m trying it out - it’s just not me. Sure, I would love to share everything on a blog and tell the whole world all my experiences but it always comes back to my rants and life realizations and everything in between. I know im so lazy on updating and bringing my slr with me and taking photos of everywhere I go that is blog worthy, uploading heavy high res files to make the blogpost appealing, and telling a story on each and every photo. That’s the goal sure, but that’s just not me.
“Eh sino ba ako?”, myself asked myself. To answer the question, I havent yet to figure out that yet but I know that what I had realized today answered a lifelong goal of mine that is needed to be re-furbished.
But I am not staying away from blogging since it had been my shelter during emo nights and happy times. I think I can do vain life updates once in a while or post my rants here in there or maybe share random life realizations once but not the blogger I thought I ought myself to be. I had gotten hold the Literary Editor position on our school paper during highschool and I think this is, until now, my writing forte. I might as well stick to that so shall the rest to follow.
Being the organized and sort of OC that I am, all my wordplays and other literary/fiction works be posted on a separate blog. As if someone cares. (But please please please please do check it out here: http://lawrites.tumblr.com/) I accept comments, suggestions, and even criticisms!
Also, deleting old posts to give way to my new (I hope this will be the last) refurbished tumblr account. Reviving this one to see if I belong here.
Cheers to new beginnings and life long goals! 🎉"
Last week, I felt that it's about time I choose what blog I should focus on updating. I am not a popular blogger or someone so influencial but I am managing so many accounts already I feel like I have to focus on just one or maybe a few of them. I thought I already am done with the decision making. I thought I am through with endless layout changing and template decisions. But no. Being the indecisive that I am, I am not through with everything.

But even though I can't decide on options, atleast I am happy I have one final decision: I am not the lifestyle blogger type I ought to be. And realizing that made me thought that you don't need a lifestyle blog in your life, why are you blogging anyway? I mean, it made me question the existence of my blogging. I am blogging for myself, trying to type in all the words and sharing to the internet world all the things I feel like I need to post in, for me. For my archives. For my future self. And along with this, I know I won't get any far but not being me. And the blog I am dreaming of having the whole time isn't me. I can be that, but not that that. Get it? Labo diba. Haha

Anyway, as I had jot it down on my tumblr drama post (haha), I will be doing life updates once in a while whether in here or in my other accounts. This blog had shed all my rants during the last years of my existence, I should probably continue doing that - like an online diary or something. Even though I know 70% of me states I prefer a more private life (wow sikat ka? Haha).

Since I currently have the time in my hands, I'll try to be less lazier. Wru, productivity?

Also, i've been experimenting on making a better header for this blog. I am not good with graphic designing but I know I have an eye for making nice, clean designs. Hence, the photo above. I'm in the middle of editing such and trying things out. Thank god for friendly user designing apps!
